JASNO
REDISCOVERED
GUITARET
Rest assured: it doesn't sound anything like a guitar
Discover a charming and rare instrument made for two years in the 1960s and then rediscovered by artists like Nick Cave and Warren Ellis, who used it on a soundtrack to The Assassination Of Jesse James. The Guitaret has nothing to do with a guitar. As a matter of fact, it has nothing to do with any other instrument. And that's the beauty of it.
overview
The original instrument is just a starting point, as with other Felt Instruments. Get inspired by the Afterglow patches - an atmospheric collection of multi-layered cinematic textures created entirely in the analogue domain.
the video shows an old version of the interface
The beautiful cream-colored case of the Guitaret houses an array of tines connected to a pickup. The visionary Ernst Zacharias invented it to create a new instrument to break from traditional instrumentation. Like many innovative creations, it failed to excite the public, and after just two years, production ceased.
the story
The sound of the Jasno feels familiar, yet utterly strange. Keep it at hand for all the moments that call for a little bit of that fairy dust. All it takes is a couple of plucks here and there.

ELECTRO-ACOUSTIC
ARTICULATIONS
The Guitaret was deeply sampled, focusing on maintaining human expression and natural imperfections. Enjoy the organic, hyper-real feel tone, thanks to multiple round robins and mechanical noises.
Explore the experimental side of the Guitaret with three extensively sampled creative playing techniques. Get surprised by timbres unlike anything else out there.
This is how the Guitaret is meant to sound: beautiful, quirky, and somewhat fragile.
The sound of the tines hit with felted mallets — instant magic and warmth.
Ever wondered what would the Guitaret sound like performed like a banjo? Me neither, but I sampled it anyway.
Several tape loops of random plucking, playing all at once. Drench it in reverb for an instant ambient music backdrop.
AFTERGLOW ARTICULATIONS
The Afterglow collection fuses experimental playing styles with analogue tape, extreme distortion, organic modulations, and musique concrète techniques to create a MPE-ready collection of multi-layered, cinematic textures.
overview
Enjoy the organic movement, dirt, and nostalgia flowing from underneath your fingertips. Get inspired by unexpected sound combinations, and help your music to stand out from the crowd. Boldly.
Experience the ghostly bells created by modulating tape noise with the sound of the Guitaret.
The whole studio becomes an instrument in this patch modulated by ocean waves. The harder you press the keys, the longer the waves roll.
Inspired by Tim Hecker, this patch takes two random pieces of the same dirty and heavily modulated loop and smashes them together using tempo-synced tremolo.
Imagine having two abstract layers of sounds and shapes suspended in space. By using the mod wheel, you can choose your point of focus between a multi-layered pad that goes from super-dirty to super-soft and plucky.

Jasno is a VST3 / AU / AAX Guitaret plugin.
You’re going to need 1.39GB for the samples. Twice as much is required for setup.
Windows (10 or newer) and Mac (10.11 or newer). 8GB of RAM and an i5 or better CPU required. 64-bit only. MPE requires a compatible DAW. The download and setup are handled by Pulse, which makes it easy to manage all your Felt Instruments. The fiels are watermarked to you.
The plugin works in every major DAW that supports VST3, Audio Unit or AAX plugins, like Ableton Live 10 or newer, Logic, Pro Tools, Cubase, FL Studio, Studio One, Reason 12, Reaper etc.
-
On most acoustic articulations, the note range is C3 to C6 with 5 round robins per sampled note. Some extended playing techniques cover a narrower range due to real-life limitations.
-
Select Afterglow patches in Jasno are MPE-ready. You can use a controller such as the Roli Seaboard, Ableton Push 3, Haken Continuum, or Expressive E Osmose to control the Afterglow patches using polyphonic per-not expression.
To use this feature, assign CC74 to the Slide axis on your controller, flick on the MPE switch on the interface, and make sure that your DAW is compatible with MPE.

There are no sales at Felt because I don’t think they’re fair to people who got the plugins earlier on. And those are the people who I want to support the most, which is why I offer loyalty pricing.
In a nutshell, purchasing the plugins gives you access to bundle upgrades and sweet discounts on new releases.

I offer a 25% edu discount on individual products to students and educators. The discount will be valid for a year since it’s issued and will not work on the bundles as they’re already discounted. If you’re interested in edu pricing, please, send me a copy of your Student or Staff ID or a different proof of your enrolment and I’ll set you up.
Please, allow a few days for a response - Felt is a one-man company and support needs to get the priority treatment.
