strings in motion
These not your bread-and-butter strings. The instrument is based on an idea of varying textural and emotional intensity as you move through the dynamic layers. No standard articulations are included. It’s all about textures. simply put: play a chord and stuff will happen.
taking inspiration from henryk górecki and john luther adams, we set out to explore the extremes of the dynamic range. as a result, you can really hear the texture of the bow going against the strings and all the little imperfections that make things sound human.
the instrument was recorded through a beautiful collection of hand-made microphones, going into vintage neumann and telefunken preamps. the kit was hand-picked for it’s character and as a result, the tone is warm and analogue, without a need of furhter processing.
